RRU professor Matt Dodd was the recipient of good news this week. His research funding application with the Canadian Foundation for Innovation was approved, paving the way for the purchase of a special spectrometer and other measuring devices he'll use to assess the bioavailability of metals in the soils of urban parks and beaches in B.C. and Alberta. He hopes to identify possible toxic metal hot spots and develop more efficient ways to remediate higher levels of these metals which are easily absorbed by the body, especially in those of children.
