It has been a busy year for faculty development in the Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies (CTET). In the first six weeks of 2018, we have delivered six on-campus and online workshops to dozens of engaged and enthusiastic Royal Roads faculty, associate faculty, and staff. We are equally excited about the workshop opportunities approaching in the coming months.

One workshop that we are particularly looking forward to is Facilitating Learning Online (FLO) – Synchronous, March 26 to April 15. All Royal Roads faculty, associate faculty, and staff and invited to participate in this 3-week online workshop, which is focused on developing teaching skills for synchronous online learning (e.g. webinars). Review the full workshop description and registration information.

Royal Roads Faculty member Rebecca Wilson-Mah offered this reflection on her experience as a participant in a previous offering of FLO Synchronous:

“The FLO synchronous class was an engaging and thought provoking adventure into online synchronous teaching and learning. Guided by expert facilitators, an interdisciplinary group of instructors from different post-secondary institutions had the chance to 'dig in' by participating in a range of learning activities. The forums, recorded sessions, universal course design tools, practice sessions, and peer feedback all worked together to illustrate how technology enhanced learning activities can work in a synchronous class. Take this course and you will most certainly add some pedagogical tools to your tool kit!”

Remember, fees for all CTET workshops are waived for Royal Roads faculty, associate faculty, and staff. For the discount code or more information about FLO Synchronous and our other faculty development offerings, please contact CTET Faculty Development.
