The Centre for Teaching and Educational Technologies is pleased to announce we are updating to Moodle 3.5 Nov. 27, 2018. The upgrade to 3.5 will introduce minor changes to the current interface and will positively impact daily use. CTET will support faculty, staff and students through the changes.

Some of the changes to come include:

  • Dashboard Images: Every course will host a dashboard image for easy and immediate recognition. The images will be selected by programs and image sizing information will be provided by CTET.

  • General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) Compliance: Earlier in 2018, the European Union (EU) updated their data protections regulations for all individuals and organizations accessed in the EU. This upgrade will meet GDPR compliance needs. Moodle will use updated privacy standards behind the scenes and this will cause no disruption to Moodle access.

  • Assignment Annotation: This new feature will allow instructors flexibility in assignment feedback. Student submissions will display on the screen and instructors are able to annotate the submission with comments, text highlight and stamps. As well, comments can be saved for future use. The feedback and grade can then be saved as usual. Once feedback is available to students, they can search their document comments using keywords. A detailed guide to assignment annotation will be available on the IT knowledgebase closer to the upgrade date.
