Gwen Campden new Manager, Student Success
As many of you know, Gwen Campden has been providing oversight to Financial Aid and Awards at Royal Roads for over 15 years. She has worked with the Foundation, Registrar and Finance offices to develop our internal awards program; worked with various deans, school directors and program heads to develop our entrance and convocation awards; and worked with the Office of Research to support student applications for Tri-Council Awards. During her tenure at Royal Roads, she has also provided direct service and support to students with a disability and to students who face financial or other barriers to academic success.
Several of her programs and initiatives (including the RRU Foodbank) have contributed significantly to student retention and student success. Effective this week, Gwen Campden starts her new role as Manager, Student Success. This is a new position which provides oversight to Financial Aid and Awards, Accessibility Services and Student Counselling. With Gwen's support, these services will work collectively (and sometimes collaboratively) to empower some of our more vulnerable or at-risk student populations.
