Improved visual design for Moodle courses

Example of branded image used on course sites

Instructors preparing courses for 2015 will have noticed there is now a persistent branded image and an improved naming convention for courses. This new branded image functionality applies to all courses within each School and program for the following reasons:

  • To ensure the images used in Moodle courses scale effectively across multiple devices (e.g. computer monitor, laptop screen, tablet) for a seamless user experience.
  • To support consistent RRU branding on both public-facing web properties (e.g. and student-centric web properties (e.g. Moodle courses).
  • To improve the professional look-and-feel of Moodle courses, using images that are correctly sized and do not have “yet another castle image”.
  • To enhance the student user experience within each program. Student feedback indicates students don’t care about the course code/number on their course (e.g.  “EXCH500[EXCOACH-CERT 2015-2OL] Apr 27 2015 - Best Practices in Executive Coaching”) and instead refer to their courses by name only (e.g. “Best Practices in Executive Coaching”).
