The Kelly Outstanding Teaching Awards recognize core and associate faculty members who are representative of outstanding teaching at Royal Roads University. Leading up to announcing the recipients in early October and the awards presentations at Campus Conversation Oct. 15, we will highlight each nominee (in alphabetical order) via a special profile on their teaching philosophy.

The nominee profiled this week is Ian McVitty.

“My teaching philosophy is the foundation for everything I do and say to help my students learn. Every student in my class is treated with respect."

"I work to earn learner’s trust and feel that trust can motivate students to speak openly and work harder."

I believe in honest and transparent communication with my students. Honesty begins with providing learners with fair and consistent feedback.”
