Kucharski on energy to the Indo-Pacific

Canadian energy to the Indo-Pacific

The Macdonald-Laurier Institute has published an article by Royal Roads Associate Faculty Dr. Jeff Kucharski on Canadian energy resource exports to the Indo-Pacific. The theme of the article is that tensions in the Middle East should remind Canadians that Canada should use its energy endowments strategically to leverage trade agreements and to make broader gains, especially in the Indo-Pacific. The author writes that global transition to a low carbon future will take decades and in the meantime, Canada has an opportunity to help meet the growing energy demand in the Indo-Pacific, contribute to global energy security and reap economic benefits at home, as long as it can complete planned energy export infrastructure projects and demonstrate a long-term commitment to building deeper trade and security relationships with the countries of this important region.
