Let's dig deep

It's that time of year again when we get an early September cold snap where your fingers get so chilled at your desk that they adhere themselves to your water bottle, then those lovely P&ER folks switch on the boilers which induces the Victoria Indian Summer and everyone on campus empathizes with those going through the change of life; and we all know what that means, right? Yup, you've guessed it, it's the United Way Kick Off. The future is full of fun and frolics and endless emails from me teasing Jeannie and Jody. And I have had a year to think up many roasts for the dynamic duo.

Also, with a smidge more than 100 days until Christmas you will be getting invites out to family and friends for turkey and plum duff but where are you going to find room for them all? You have accumulated so much 'stuff' this year that you need to do a clear out and BOY! Can I help you with that because we need to fill a house! You heard that correctly. A whole house.

It is situated at Mayfair Shopping Centre, (which is pretty darn handy if you are into shopping for clothes and shoes) and it needs equipping in every room. Not sure what you can donate? Check this out for more information: http://uwgv.ca/.

If the location on Douglas Street is a challenge, panic ye not, we have a cunning plan - so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a weasel. Cecelia David has boodles of room in her office and has volunteered to be the recipient of all things big or small. If big, it is probably best to email her first (Cecilia.david@royalroads.ca) as her family would miss her if we barricaded her in for three months.

Anything you do not need from any room in your house would be a very welcome contribution for families in need over the festive season so let's start the Spring cleaning early.
