Library renovation update
Work on the principal entrance to the library will soon be completed. Access to the building continues to be through the east end of the building (the side closest to the castle).
Signage has been posted to direct library users to the alternate route into the building.
Installation of the new elevator is underway and is expected to be complete by the end of June. Some of this work will be carried out during the day. The library will remain open as this work continues.
Financial aid and awards continues to operate from the library while the remainder of the student services team has been temporarily re-located to offices in the Grant building and the LIC (first floor). The library website provides more information about the modified hours of operation during the renovation. Library hours continue to be reduced Mondays to Thursdays, with alternate study space and a selection of services available in the LIC Monday to Thursday evenings from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
While Royal Roads expects to maintain all services throughout the project, please note that parts of the library building will be an active construction zone and significant, temporary disruptions may occur. Access to some spaces and hours of operation will continue to be affected as work progresses.
Parking lot 6, adjacent to the library (west side), continues to be closed temporarily. The footpath connecting Hatley Castle and the library offers barrier-free access and an alternate shipping and receiving routes. Library users and staff are encouraged to use general parking available in P3 (south of the castle) or P7 (Mews).
Safety First! Please watch for construction personnel and vehicles or equipment working in and around the campus core. Signage will be posted to guide visitors and members of the Royal Roads community around localized work sites.
