Margaret Wheatley on campus November 2017
"We need leaders brave enough to create Islands of Sanity in the midst of a turbulent and destructive sea. Sane leadership is the unshakeable faith in people’s capacity to be generous, creative and kind. It is the commitment to create the conditions for these capacities to blossom, protected from the external environment. It is the deep knowing that, even in the most dire circumstances, more becomes possible as people engage together with compassion and discernment, self-determining their way forward."
Professional and Continuing Studies is excited to announce that Margaret Wheatley, Ed.D, will be joining us as a distinguished speaker this November!
Margaret Wheatley has worked globally in many different roles, as a speaker, teacher, consultant, advisor and formal leader. From the deep and varied experiences, she has developed an unshakable conviction that leaders must learn how to evoke people's inherent generosity, creativity and need for community. As this world tears us apart, sane leadership on behalf of the human spirit is the only way forward. She is author of nine books, from the classic Leadership and the New Science in 1992 to her newest book Who Do We Choose To Be? Facing Reality, Claiming Leadership, Restoring Sanity (June 2017). She continues to be honoured for her groundbreaking work by many professional associations, universities and organizations.
We look forward to seeing you there!
