Under the direction of Mary-Anne Neal, associate faculty member in the School of Business, 20,000 civil servants in the Mongolian government will be trained in policies that reflect the trend toward greater community involvement.

Neal was invited to develop and facilitate the MERIT project (Mongolia Enhancing Resource Management through Institutional Transformation), which is currently underway, based on 21st century principles of teaching and learning. Training is delivered online due to COVID-19.

MERIT, a six-year project headquartered in the Mongolian capital of Ulaanbaatar, is a joint project with Global Affairs Canada, CESO (Canadian Executive Services Organization) and other NGOs to promote sustainable social and economic development in Mongolia. This initiative aligns with Neal’s ongoing work to build capacity in remote northern Indigenous communities.
