NAOSH Week: May 4 – 9, 2020

North American Occupational Safety and Health Week (NAOSH), a week the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee (JOHSC) members at Royal Roads University look forward to sharing with you all year, has been celebrated since June 1997. With a particularly important goal, this week of safety and health education focuses employers, employees, partners and the public on the importance of preventing injury and illness in the workplace, at home, and in the community.

NAOSH week is a big deal for RRU; in fact, we have received various awards recognizing our commitment to safety and passion to be prepared! Your JOHSC members of RRU have carefully planned previous events to bring our community together to enhance our learning through Fire Extinguisher training, active contests and more. Some may remember the safety dance video from 2015. If you have not seen it before, it is worth the watch!

All of the past events and learning opportunities represented our commitment to ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all employees, students, and guests to our beautiful campus.  Like many other events, our hopes and plans needed to shift, and we are unable to move forward this year as previously envisioned.  However, what has not changed is the importance behind NAOSH week and RRU’s ongoing commitment to your health and safety.

This year, NAOSH week coincides with Canadian Mental Health Week and the Healthy U team from Human Resources has been hard at work highlighting a range of timely resources for RRU. The JOHSC recognizes that we are all being challenged in several ways during this pandemic and we have chosen to also focus NAOSH week on the important topic of Mental Health.

We are pleased to share a range of webinars that focus on your well-being.  While these webinars can be viewed at any time on any date most convenient for you, we have put together a recommended schedule throughout the week:
