Dr. Geo Takach: My research, primarily in environmental and sustainability communication around Alberta and its bituminous (‘tar’/’oil’) sands, has been presented at 22 scholarly conferences, in seven scholarly publications (and five more forthcoming) and in a SSHRC-funded PhD study from the University of Calgary that won the Distinguished Qualitative Dissertation Award (Category A, Experimental) from the International Center for Qualitative Inquiry based in Illinois. My research has been profiled in the national, provincial and local media, where I have been quoted as an expert on issues around Alberta and the sands. I have two scholarly books in the works on that subject, as apparently one was just not enough.
