New school director for STHM
The faculty and staff of the Faculty of Management are pleased to share the news that Dr. Eugene Thomlinson has accepted the appointment as the new director of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management. Eugene is currently program head for the BA in Global Tourism Management.
Eugene joined Royal Roads in 2008 as an associate faculty member teaching the research methods course online for the MATM program. After a stint in Australia, he joined RRU as an assistant professor in 2013. Eugene has taught tourism and hospitality courses for Royal Roads University, La Trobe University (Melbourne) and Griffith University (Gold Coast). He also worked for the Canadian Tourism Commission (CTC) as the senior market analyst, responsible for developing the Explorer Quotient (EQ) and understanding global tourism. Prior to the CTC, Eugene worked for Parks Canada, conducting social science research in national parks and historic sites across western Canada, focused on human use patterns and evaluating communications.
FoM and STHM would like to acknowledge and thank Dr. Geoffrey Bird for his dedication to the school as the previous director. We are very grateful for his enthusiastic and positive leadership of the school.
