New VP Communications and Advancement

Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to announce that Katharine Harrold (who some will remember as Katharine Ratcliffe) has accepted the role of Vice-President, Communications and Advancement, effective March 30, 2015 and will be returning to Royal Roads University.

Katharine will be joining us from the United Way of the Lower Mainland in Vancouver where she currently holds the position of Vice-President, Resource Development.  Katharine’s career to date has been impressive progressing from the position of Alumni Relations Coordinator at Pearson College to Campaign Manager at Royal Roads from 2000-2001 and onto Director of Philanthropy with the Nature Conservancy.  Prior to accepting a more senior appointment once again as Director of Advancement for Simon Fraser University’s Faculty of Environment, she also spent time working with the David Suzuki Foundation as their National Campaign Director.

Katharine’s dedication to and passion for the field of philanthropy is evident and in her words has described “the privilege” she feels to be contributing to this important work and the opportunity it provides to make a life-changing impact. Katharine is also dedicated to the teams she leads, and all those she works with, and is highly regarded for the genuine and inspiring manner in which she connects with others.  Katharine has a personal connection to Royal Roads’ own military college legacy having grown up in a military family and as such she understands the pride our organization has in its military roots, and the special place the campus holds for its military alumni.

We are delighted that Katharine is re-joining Royal Roads and bringing her considerable experience to work with the Communication and Advancement team and our executive team!

Please join me in welcoming Katharine back to Royal Roads University.
