Now for the final award of the evening…
Last night (March 29th), a small but mighty contingent of RRU staff attended the United Way Spirit Fest event hosted by the Delta Ocean Pointe Hotel, and proudly cheered following the announcement that RRU has been nominated for the Labour Partnership Spirit Award as well as the Workplace Volunteer Committee Spirit Award. Sadly, we did not make it into the finals for the Labour Partnership Spirit Award. But we are in the running for the Volunteer Committee Spirit Award! And of course, we are also in the running for the Postsecondary Cup.
As if those things were not exciting enough, we were pleasantly surprised to hear the emcee, Robin Farrell, from Kool FM, say:
Now for the final award of the evening: the Naden Band Spirit of Excellence Award. This is an award of prestige and honours a longstanding campaign. This year’s recipient ran their campaign with heart and dedication. They know how to organize a team to get a job done well, create enthusiasm and they run the most exciting duck races in town. This year’s recipient is Royal Roads University, Royal Roads Faculty Association and Canadian Union of Public Employees 3886.
The committee wanted to share this great news with you because YOU are the reason that our committee rocks. First, we ARE you. And second, your support of our efforts to run a successful (some would say “rocking!”) campaign is what makes it great.
We are all nominees!
At the Spirit Awards Luncheon scheduled for April 22nd at the Fairmont Empress, we will find out if we emerge victorious in the competition for those awards and we will take possession of the award for the Naden Band Spirit of Excellence (the one already in the bag!).
Are you excited for us? Perhaps you’ll be inspired to register for the luncheon so that we have a big fan section in attendance!
Thank YOU for all that you do to build and maintain a strong community. Together, we are possibility.
