The Kelly Outstanding Teaching Awards recognize core and associate faculty members who are representative of outstanding teaching at Royal Roads. Leading up to the 2017 awards announcement in September, we will highlight nominees (in alphabetical order) via a special profile on their teaching philosophy.

Rose Nadon

"Instructors are in a position of trust and students need to be able to rely on them, knowing they are learning significant information that will better their lives and provide for informed decisions about career and life choices.   Students want to know that the instructor has something useful to offer them in the teachings.  A good instructor provides clear objectives in learning, useful information, guidance in the classroom and time for students to assimilate the new information in a constructive manner.  Credibility and authenticity are key instructor characteristics needed to retain students’ attention, support their perseverance in the learning and gain their respect towards the education.  Learners respond to enthusiasm and passion when listening, learning and processing new information.”
