We are pleased to announce that Ashley Richards has joined the President’s Office as our new Board Secretary.

Ashley began her career on Vancouver Island, providing direct support to senior leadership and committees with UVic’s Office of Research Services and Office of the Vice-President Research. She previously lived and worked in Edinburgh, Scotland as a Management Assistant to the Director of Estates at the University of Edinburgh. Most recently, Ashley held the role of Board Assistant to the Simon Fraser University Board of Governors. She has experience assisting complicated and nuanced portfolios, and expertise in event planning, committee organization and providing strategic support to post-secondary senior leadership.

Ashley holds a Master of Philosophy (2011) in Classics from Trinity College Dublin, University of Dublin, and a Bachelor of Arts (2008) with a major in Greek and Roman Studies and minor in History from the University of Victoria.

Ashley is a life-long learner and enjoys opportunities to gain further understanding of how institutions develop, operate and set about achieving their strategic goals. She is a strong believer in the importance of professional networks and knowledge-sharing to establish best practices. In her spare time Ashley is an artist, and enjoys spending time with her husband and two young children in nature.

Please join me in welcoming Ashley to Royal Roads.
