Rare rhodos find new home

Three rare rhododendrons have found a new home in the gardens of Royal Roads.

The plants were collected by Dr. Brian White in the cloud forests of Vietnam while on a joint botanical gardens expedition between Royal Roads and the University of British Columbia in 2005. Having grown too big for White’s garden, the large plants will flourish at Royal Roads as they are accustomed to high elevations, freezing temperatures and snow.

Gardeners Ian Write and John Mikitka have replanted two of the plants in the fernery and one near the library.
