RRU attends Team Based Learning Institute

The Michaelsen-Knight-Fink Model of Team-Based Learning is in use at many institutions of higher learning on several continents, with measurement data consistently showing high gains in student achievement and low rates of attrition. Developed at the University of Oklahoma Business School, TBL has demonstrated success in many disciplines, with any content; with beginning students as well as advanced students; in large classes as well as small classes.

Eva Malisius (School of Humanitarian Studies), Chris Miles (CTET Instructional Designer), Michael Pardy (Associate Faculty), and Trish Dyck (Team Coach) participated in a TBL Institute in December and have had an opportunity to apply what they learned.  Now they are ready to share examples and talk about pros and cons, successes and challenges in a TeamsWork session on April 5 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. in the Centre for Dialogue.

Who knows – you may want to apply for the next TBL Institute (May 17-19) at VIU! You can get a quick overview of TBL at and view several short videos or join the TeamsWork session on April 5 (see event listing) to hear how the folks listed above as well as Moira MacDonald (School of Tourism and Hospitality Management) integrate TBL into their courses.

This event will be available via Livestream.
