Sharing the story: Library renovation closure
TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF THE LIBRARY
At 4:30 p.m. on Friday, April 29 the library will close. The library will be closed all day Saturday April 30. The building will re-open with full library service at noon on Sunday, May 1.
This closure is due to a power shut down required to facilitate necessary upgrades to the building electrical system.
Work on the principal entrance to the library will continue until mid-May. Access to the building continues to be through the east end of the building (the side closest to the castle). Signage has been posted to direct library users to the alternate route into the building.
Starting at the end of April, the project team will intensify work in the building, and begin the installation of the new elevator. Some of this work will be carried out during the day. The library will remain open as this work is completed.
Financial aid and awards continues to operate from the library while the remainder of the student services team has been temporarily re-located to offices in the Grant building and the LIC (first floor). The library website provides more information about the modified hours of operation during the renovation. Library hours continue to be reduced Mondays to Thursdays, with alternate study space and a selection of services available in the LIC Monday - Thursday evenings from 7 to 9 p.m.
While RRU expects to maintain all services throughout the project, please note that parts of the library building will be an active construction zone and significant, temporary disruptions may occur. Access to some spaces and hours of operation will continue to be affected as work progresses.
Parking lot #6, adjacent to the library (west side) continues to be closed temporarily. The footpath connecting Hatley Castle and the library offers barrier-free access and an alternate shipping and receiving routes. Library users and staff are encouraged to use general parking available in P3 (south of the castle) or P7 (Mews).
