SoLs alumna entering doctoral studies

Jackie Ryan is a School of Leadership Studies alumna and winner of the Founder’s Award. Jackie is “over the moon excited" because she just received a letter of acceptance from the University of Alberta Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine. She was also nominated for a Doctoral Recruitment Scholarship and offered a graduate research assistantship for her first year. Jackie’s Royal Roads thesis was titled “Leading the Way to Promote Self-determination of Adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder.” Her supervisor was Dr. Alice MacGillivray and her second committee member Dr. Silvia Vilches. Her thesis work was exceptional in that she included the voices of adults with ASD in all aspects of the work and they continue to provide meaningful guidance to her sponsoring organization.
