Our 2014 United Way Campaign has begun!

We would like to thank you for giving – whether it is your time, your dollars, or your spirit – Thank you! It feels great to give and it definitely helps others.

This year’s United Way campaign begins with you – making a pledge, joining as a leader, participating in an event, and having fun with your colleagues during the campaign. This year we will have a special Castle Coffee on Oct. 2 at 10 am in the Castle, and our kick-off event will be Thursday, Oct. 9, 1 pm – 2:30 pm, in the Quarterdeck. (Enjoy your lunch before you come but save room for we will have tea/coffee and treats, which we will provide at the event).

The three areas of focus for the campaign are:

  1. Children and Youth – Ensuring children and youth grow up healthy and transition successfully into adulthood.  In 2013, the United Way invested $1.1 million dollars to support 8,000 children and youth in our community!

  2. Poverty to Possibility – Building individuals’ financial stability and independence by providing access to healthy food, affordable housing and employment. In 2013, the United Way invested $800,000 to help 15,000 individuals and 5,000 families build pathways out of poverty in Greater Victoria.

  3. Community – Developing the skills of people to care for themselves and their families by creating opportunities and places for social interaction. In 2013, the United Way invested $2.2 million to improve the quality of life for 24,000 individuals and 2,000 families facing challenges of isolation and person crisis, right here in the Greater Victoria area!

Your Royal Roads United Way team will be holding several “thank you for giving” draws throughout the campaign! The first draw (door prize – no cost to you!) will be at Castle Coffee on Oct. 2 for a Lexmark All-in-One, Wireless PRINTER and there will be more draws at the Kick-off on Oct. 9 – bring your completed pledge forms to the kick-off and be eligible for the participation draw! Imagine winning a day off with pay, or a $50.00 gift certificate to a retailer of choice! If you can’t make it to the kick-off, and want your pledge form entered in the draw, just follow the instructions on the label on the outside of your envelope.  If you have any questions about how to make your donation, or if you didn’t receive a pledge form, send an email message to unitedway@royalroads.ca or call Cindy at 2551.

There will be lots of fun during our campaign, so please check the website at http://unitedway.royalroads.ca for more details, or email us at unitedway@royalroads.ca.

Once again, thank you, for all that you do and for all that you give!
