University and RRUFA reach agreement
Royal Roads University and the Royal Roads University Faculty Association (RRUFA) announced today the two groups have ratified a new collective agreement.
The five year agreement, effective April 1, 2014 – March 31, 2019, applies to the 67 full time faculty members working in the Faculties of Management and Social and Applied Sciences, and the full time librarians at the university.
“We are delighted to have reached this deal,” says Allan Cahoon, president and vice-chancellor of Royal Roads. “We continue to share a strong and positive relationship with our faculty and we were happy to be able to recognize the important contribution they’ve made in the success of the institution.”
“RRUFA and Royal Roads worked in a collaborative effort to reach agreement on some difficult and challenging issues,” says Kenneth Christie, president of RRUFA. “The university and the members of RRUFA will benefit from this collective agreement over time and this increases the credibility and visibility of the institution and its members.”
The agreement is within the terms of the province’s Economic Stability Mandate with a 1% general wage increase effective April 1, 2015 and staggered 1.5% general wage increases in 2016/17, 2017/18 and 2018/19. Included in the new agreement are the introduction of research and scholarship leave and the introduction of voluntary phased retirement.
