George Veletsianos

School of Education and Technology Associate Prof. George Veletsianos will receive an international education award for his scholarship on digital learning and social media.

The Association for Educational Communications and Technology (AECT) will award Veletsianos and his research colleague, Royce Kimmons of Brigham Young University, its Annual Achievement Award for 2016. The AECT is a professional association of educators and others who strive to improve instruction through technology.

The award acknowledges the professional accomplishments of both professors, as well as the work of their Digital Learning and Social Media Research Group. The group is a cross-institutional research collaborative which studies digital learning, with emphasis on the use of social media for teaching, learning and scholarship. The group publishes research and offers students and newer academics professional development. It also provides mentorship to young scholars in multiple institutions in the research areas of social media analysis and data mining.

The achievement award will be presented Oct. 20 at the association’s membership meeting in Las Vegas, Nevada. Congratulations, George!
