The Professional and Continuing Studies (PCS) department is growing! We are delighted to welcome Helena Prins, Learning and Development Advisor for international contract training to the PCS team.

Helena brings a diverse background in teaching and training to Royal Roads University. She started her career as a high school teacher in South Africa, where she also obtained an additional degree in special education. Helena then combined her passion for teaching and travelling and relocated to Taiwan where she could teach and travel to nearby countries. This exciting teaching experience led her to pursue a Masters in Education. Since moving to Canada in 2007, Helena has worked as a teacher for international students, as well as an instructor for the Community Support Work program at a local college. She comes to RRU from the Garth Homer Society where she was the manager of a post-secondary learning program for adults with developmental disability. Helena has a passion for lifelong learning and for supporting others on their learning journey.

Helena loves cooking and loves exploring cuisines from all over the world. She is thrilled to be working at RRU and even more excited to avoid the Colwood Crawl for her commute.

Helena can be found in the Boat House until we relocate into the nearby portables for the ‘renovation season’. Her extension is 4310. Come and see us to say hello to Helena!
