West campus power outage Saturday, January 6
Beginning at 8 a.m. on Saturday, January 6, electrical power to the west campus will be temporarily shut down to enable electrical infrastructure upgrade work to be completed. This outage will affect the Castle, Rose Cottage, Cedar, the Recreation Centre, CESIP, the Boathouse, Blue Heron House, the Greenhouse and houses 3, 5, 14, 16, 27 and 28.
The power to the library will be restored in the morning and the library will reopen at noon.
All of the other affected buildings will be closed during the electrical shutdown including the Recreation Centre.
Access to Royal Roads email accounts, websites and Moodle will not be affected by the shutdown. Buildings not affected by this power shutdown are Millward, Nixon, Grant, LIC, Arbutus, Gatehouse, 7B, Bldg 10 and 12.
Royal Roads employees with offices located in these buildings are asked to prepare their work stations in advance of the outage by turning off and unplugging all computer equipment at the end of the work day Friday, January 5 to avoid damage from a power surge that may occur when the system is re-energized.
For the safety of visitors and members of the Royal Roads community, as well as electrical contractors and other project team members, you are encouraged to avoid visiting these areas of the campus during this outage.
