Women arrived in droves to the Royal Roads University campus Friday night for the Women in Leadership event at the Centre for Dialogue to celebrate and mark International Women’s Day.

Dr. Jennifer Walinga has been presenting on the topic of International Women’s Day for four years, and thanks Wendy Leithead, Eden Jaycock and Brian MacDonald for volunteering to support the 2019 event.

We have seen the numbers increase each year indicating a vibrant community and a number of women’s networks across Victoria (130 women registered for the event in 2019, reaching maximum capacity). We have also leveraged the event to raise funds for Women in Need and other women’s organizations over the years.

Royal Roads University is becoming a leader in the realm of women in leadership, hosting events like the Advancing Human Rights through Women in Sport Symposium, supporting a Women in Scholarship community of practice, developing relevant programming and generating applied research. Recently, we hosted the Public Sector Network’s Women in Leadership Canada event and we have two events upcoming through Professional and Continuing Studies.
