Women motorcycle riders on the rise
More women are taking up motorcycle riding in their 40s, 50s and 60s. April Weavell, a student in the Master of Arts in Intercultural and International Communication program at Royal Roads investigated their motivations and found that riding provides a sense of pride and empowerment, resistance to stereotypes of gender and aging, and a great way to de-stress from busy lives. Her findings were published in the Canadian magazine Motorcycle Mojo.
